Home visits

Whilst we encourage our patients to come to the surgery, where we have the equipment and facilities available, we do appreciate this is not always possible. You may only request a home visit if you are housebound or are too ill to visit the practice. Your GP will only visit you at home if they think that your medical condition requires it. They will also decide how urgently a visit is needed and may refer you to the Acute Home Visiting Service where a community professional will visit you. You can also be visited at home by a community nurse if you are referred by your GP. You should also be visited at home by a health visitor if you have recently had a baby, or if you are newly registered with a GP and have a child under five years old

Telephone Calls

We can organise telephone consultations for our patients if required. Please call us at the surgery to arrange. You can choose to talk to a specific doctor or nurse or a healthcare assistant, subject to availability. You may be asked to call back or leave a telephone number where we can call you back once the doctor/nurse/healthcare assistant is available.

Evening and Weekend Appointments

Patients who are registered at this practice can now book an appointment to see a GP, Nurse or Healthcare Assistant on weekday evenings (after 6.30pm) or on Saturdays. Appointments will either take place at this practice or at another local GP practice. Talk to our receptionists to find out more or to book an appointment.

Missed Appointments

In June, 98 patients Did Not Attend their appointments. In total this adds up to 24.83 hours of wasted time. If you cannot attend an appointment please contact the surgery at your earliest convenience to cancel (if you cancel at short notice and we can not fill the appointment it will still be marked as a missed appointment). Please note that due to the growing number of people not attending their appointments we have had to implement a new system for this. If you miss three or more appointments in three months you will be added to our frequent DNA (did not attend) list. This will not affect your ability to see a GP. You will be able to book an appointment but this slot will be double booked to ensure the GP time is being used efficiently. This means you will be given your appointment time like normal but may not be seen at that time.

Chaperone

During every consultation with the doctor or the nurse you are welcome to have a friend or family member with you. The surgery can also provide you with a chaperone if you wish to have someone with you. The chaperone will be requested by the practitioner should the patient request one or if the practitioner feels it is necessary.
